LOGO LINGO
Great Lakes Eastern Railroad Company’s logos and colors are reflective of several influences on the existence of the corporate identity. The colors adapted by the GLE are indicative of the company’s association and proximity to the body of waters between the United States and Canada, known as the Great Lakes.
Blue and white were the natural colors of choice to affiliate the railroad name with the system that moves around the southern end of multiple Great Lakes.
The logo was developed to show smooth lines – like the service that is offered by the Great Lakes Eastern Railroad Company – and show unity throughout. The ‘G’ begins its route at the overhang and travels completely around the three-quarter circumference of the letter, making a ninety-degree turn into the letter ‘L’. Within the 90-degree letter ‘L’, a set of rails – the upper two prongs of the letter ‘E’ – show a strong commitment to the railroad service.
Ultra-modern text is also used to reflect the future that Great Lakes Eastern expects to play in the railroad transportation industry.
